A new package of integrity reforms to strengthen transparency over political lobbying in NSW has been unveiled by the state government.
The NSW Electoral Commission will become the state’s lobbying regulator, following a range of sweeping reforms announced on Monday.
This includes powers to audit compliance with the Lobbying of Government Officials Act 2011 and NSW Lobbyists Code of Conduct, as well as requirement that government agencies and officials provide access to relevant records as part of lobbying audits.
Conditions for some public sector roles will also change, with particular government jobs subject to post-separation employment restrictions for up to six months.
