The Minisforum N5 Air-7640 was introduced in September 2026, and, as the brand announced at the time, it has now gone on sale. It starts at $495 and can be equipped with 174TB of storage.
Minisforum announced the N5 Air-7640 as a slightly more affordable NAS than the N5 Air powered by the Ryzen 7 255. Back then, the brand shared that pre-orders for the NAS would start shipping in late October 2026, and as that happened, regular orders for the system opened.
The price didn't change yet, meaning that the N5 Air-7640 still starts at $495, but it's worth noting that this configuration doesn't come with any memory or storage. There's a second config, with 16GB of DDR5 RAM and 64GB of storage for the OS, and this one costs $679.
For those who missed our previous coverage, the Minisforum N5 Air-7640 is powered by the AMD Ryzen 5 7640HS, a mid-range processor from the Phoenix Point lineup, and it has the Radeon 760M iGPU. While the integrated GPU and the NPU aren't powerful, there's a native PCIe x16 slot available for those who might want to make some internal upgrades.
Of course, it's worth noting that the slot is limited to PCIe 4.0 x4 speeds. There's an OCuLink port available as well, and with the 10GbE and 5GbE ports, the NAS should deliver reliable and speedy wired connectivity.
Another notable highlight of the N5 Air-7640 is the rated 174TB of total storage support. The system has five HDD bays and three M.2 slots (8TB WD Red Plus HDD curr. $354.99 on Amazon). Users can also take advantage of the rich selection of ports, which includes two USB4 ports, to expand the NAS further.
Other highlights include a sleek design, dual-fan cooling setup, and support for up to 96GB of DDR5 RAM. Check out our launch coverage to learn more about the Minisforum N5 Air-7640.
