The EDSA Busway stations at North Avenue, Monumento, and Bagong Barrio have been reopened to the public following their rehabilitation, the Department of Transportation (DOTr) said.
In a Facebook post, DOTr Secretary Banoy Lopez and Senior Undersecretary for Road Transport and Infrastructure Mark Steven Pastor conducted an inspection at the North Avenue and Bagong Barrio stations to monitor passenger usage and check for further potential improvements.
The DOTr said the rehabilitation of the stations is part of Phase 1 of the EDSA Busway Rehabilitation Project, which aims to make commuter access more convenient and comfortable.
“Sa ilalim ng rehabilitation, pinaganda ang mga istasyon sa pamamagitan ng mas malawak na station platforms, maaliwalas na mga istasyon at mas maayos na waiting sheds, railings, vertical louvers, tactile paving, wayfinding signs, at LED information displays,” the DOTr said.
(Under the rehabilitation, the stations were upgraded with wider platforms, well-ventilated station areas, and improved waiting sheds, railings, vertical louvers, tactile paving, wayfinding signs, and LED information displays.)
Meanwhile, repair work is still ongoing for the elevators at the two stations.
