Voting is underway across Kogi State as residents elect their representatives in the local government elections, with turnout varying across polling units.
The exercise covers 239 wards and 3,508 polling units across the state, with some locations recording a high turnout while others experience fewer voters.
The Chairman of the Kogi State Independent Electoral Commission, Mamman Eri, says the commission is committed to conducting a free, fair and credible election in line with democratic standards.
Electoral officials, security agencies and other stakeholders are also on the ground to support the smooth conduct of the exercise.
Meanwhile, civil society groups in the state are calling for increased voter sensitisation and greater transparency.
They have also urged the commission to address past concerns that have weakened public confidence in the electoral process.
