An aspiring Deputy Western Regional Youth Organiser of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC), Davis Adjei Mohammed, is making a compelling case for his election.
He is drawing on years of grassroots party service, youth mobilisation and economic empowerment initiatives that have benefited hundreds of young people in the Amenfi West Constituency.
He says his candidacy is anchored in the conviction that an effective youth wing must go beyond political mobilisation to empower young people economically, strengthen party structures and position the NDC for sustained political success.
With four years of experience as Deputy Constituency Youth Organiser for Amenfi West and another four years as a member of the Western Regional Youth Working Committee, Mr Adjei Mohammed believes he brings a combination of grassroots experience and regional exposure that would be valuable to the party’s youth leadership.
“My involvement in the party’s structures dates back to my formative years in branch and student politics, giving me an appreciation of the organisational demands of building a strong youth wing from the grassroots upwards,” he said.
His political experience includes serving as Youth Representative for the Amenfi West Constituency, a member of the Amenfi West Youth Working Committee, Youth Organiser for the Damang D/A JHS branch and Branch Secretary of the NDC at the Asankrangwa Nursing Training School.
He has also been involved with the Tertiary Education Institutions Network (TEIN) at Accra Technical University and the University College of Management Studies (UCOMS), experiences he believes have broadened his understanding of student politics and youth mobilisation.
These roles, he maintains, have equipped him with the organisational skills, institutional understanding and grassroots connections needed to contribute meaningfully to the leadership of the Western Regional youth wing.
Youth Empowerment at the Centre of His Vision
A key pillar of Mr Adjei Mohammed’s candidacy is his commitment to translating youth leadership into tangible economic opportunities.
“Through my company, Davis Group of Companies, I have championed initiatives that have benefited hundreds of young people in Amenfi West, helping them pursue employability, economic independence and self-reliance,” he said.
He intends to extend this empowerment agenda across the Western Region if elected, making youth development a central pillar of his approach to party organisation.
“For me, political leadership must respond to the everyday realities of young people. Beyond mobilising them for party activities and elections, I believe leadership must help create opportunities that improve their livelihoods and give them a greater stake in the party’s vision. This is what I bring to the position,” he added.
His approach seeks to bridge political mobilisation and economic empowerment, recognising that young people who have access to opportunities and practical support are better positioned to contribute to community development and sustain their engagement with the party.
He believes this emphasis on empowerment would distinguish his leadership and ensure that the welfare and productive capacity of young people receive as much attention as the traditional responsibilities of party organisation.
Building a Stronger, More United Youth Wing
Mr Adjei Mohammed maintains that the youth remain among the NDC’s most valuable political assets, irrespective of whether the party is in government or opposition.
“An empowered youth has immense potential to influence the fortunes of the party. When we are in government, the youth can help strengthen our administration, minimise internal disaffection and present the party as a united force. In opposition, their commitment and organisational strength remain equally important,” he said.
He argues that young party members invest considerable time and energy in the NDC because they see it as a vehicle for advancing their aspirations and contributing to national development.
He believes party leadership must reciprocate this commitment by trusting young people, supporting their initiatives and creating opportunities for them to contribute meaningfully to decision-making.
His vision is to help build a youth wing where innovative ideas are encouraged, grassroots structures remain active and young people receive the support needed to become effective agents of the party’s growth.
If elected Deputy Regional Youth Organiser, he intends to work with the regional youth leadership to make young people the fulcrum of the party’s organisational strength, attractiveness and electoral competitiveness.
“The broader objective is to build a youth wing that remains relevant beyond election periods, deepens the NDC’s presence in communities and helps consolidate the party’s political gains through sustained engagement and effective organisation,” he stated.
Supports New Regional Party Office with 100 Bags of Cement
Beyond his aspirations for youth leadership, Mr Adjei Mohammed has demonstrated his commitment to the party’s institutional development with a donation of 100 bags of cement towards the construction of the NDC’s new Western Regional office.
He said the contribution was intended to support the development of the party’s physical infrastructure and strengthen its operational capacity in the region.
For him, building a stronger NDC requires investment not only in party infrastructure but also in the human capital that sustains its structures, particularly the young people whose dedication and mobilisation efforts remain central to its political fortunes.
His candidacy rests on a combination of grassroots political experience, regional-level exposure, youth empowerment and a commitment to strengthening the party’s organisational structures.
As the contest for the Deputy Western Regional Youth Organiser position approaches, Mr Adjei Mohammed is seeking to convince delegates that his experience and empowerment agenda provide a strong foundation for building a more organised, inclusive and economically empowered youth wing.
His central message is that the future strength of the NDC depends significantly on how effectively it organises, supports and empowers its young people today.
