Two drug peddlers were apprehended by the Telangana EAGLE Force in Bachupally, Cyberabad, leading to the seizure of MDMA and ganja, with investigators now attempting to trace their suppliers and a network of customers allegedly involved in purchasing narcotics.
The accused were identified as Ch. Dinesh Kumar, 27, an event manager residing in Madhapur and a native of Kadapa in Andhra Pradesh, and Neilabh Sharma, 24, a resident of Bachupally and a native of Uttar Pradesh.
Acting on credible information, EAGLE Force personnel apprehended the duo in Bachupally and seized 6.2 grams of MDMA, 5.83 grams of dry ganja, a pocket-sized weighing machine and two phones.
According to investigators, Dinesh entered the ganja trade in 2024 to earn quick money for his personal expenses. He initially procured ganja at lower prices and sold it to customers at a profit before expanding his activities to include MDMA.
Police said Dinesh, along with Neilabh and another associate, identified as J.N. Suhas was involved in supplying narcotics to customers.
Preliminary questioning revealed that Neilabh had begun consuming ganja during his graduation and subsequently entered the drug trade due to financial difficulties. The two accused reportedly became acquainted through a common friend at Elysian Snooker Club in Bachupally.
Investigators said the accused bought MDMA and ganja from Manikanta, a Bachupally resident. They allegedly purchased MDMA for approximately ₹5,000 per gram and ganja packets for ₹600 each before reselling them at higher prices.
During questioning, the duo also disclosed the identities of seven others who had allegedly purchased drugs from them. Police are examining these leads to establish the extent of the distribution network and identify other individuals involved.
The accused, along with the seized narcotics and other articles, were handed over to the Bachupally police for further legal action.
A case was registered under Sections 8(c) read with 22(b) and 20(b)(ii)(A) of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.
Police have launched efforts to trace Manikanta and J.N. Suhas, who are currently absconding, while further investigation is under way to identify additional suppliers and customers linked to the network.
