A former digital forensic officer in Bendigo has been charged with offences including possession of child abuse material.
Vincent Manner, 57, was this week charged with misconduct in public office, failing to provide information under warrant, and up to six counts of accessing and possessing child abuse material.
Mr Manner was suspended without pay in August last year, but resigned amid a police investigation in November.
Police said the investigation was undertaken by the Professional Standards Unit in conjunction with the Cybercrime Squad, and worked with the Office of Public Prosecutions (OPP) "to understand the impact of the ongoing enquiry on any current investigations or court matters".
"Following the identification of a number of potentially affected matters, a formal review of the forensic data was conducted. This re-examination has been completed," a police statement read.
"At this stage it is believed all issues have been identified and reviewed and impacted parties have been notified."
Mr Manner will face Bendigo Magistrates Court on November 4.
