Samsung Asset Management's KODEX U.S. Nasdaq 100 exchange-traded fund has surpassed 10 trillion won ($7 billion) in net assets about 5 1/2 years after listing, the fastest pace among Nasdaq 100-tracking ETFs listed in South Korea.
Net assets stood at 10.1509 trillion won, Samsung Asset Management said on the 15th. The fund, which listed in April 2021, drew 3.2988 trillion won in net buying from retail investors this year, the most among domestic products tracking the Nasdaq 100.
The Nasdaq 100 comprises 100 major companies listed on the U.S. Nasdaq market, including Nvidia, Apple, Microsoft, Broadcom, Amazon and Google. The index offers diversified exposure to companies leading the artificial intelligence and technology sectors, making it a vehicle for long-term, regular (dollar-cost-averaging) investing and retirement accounts.
The ETF has returned 11.78% so far this year. Two-year and three-year returns were 50.04% and 102.18%, respectively. Samsung Asset Management said low fees and its ability to manage the gap between the fund's return and that of the underlying index drove investor demand.
"This result reflects our clients' trust in our tracking-error management and the investment capability we have demonstrated through long-term performance," said Lim Tae-hyuk, head of the ETF management division at Samsung Asset Management. "We will continue to manage the fund in a stable and efficient manner."
