If you visit football stadiums around the country, you will notice that most everyone has their own thing. From the University of Michigan’s singing of “Mr. Brightside” to the way the Kansas City Chiefs cap off the singing of the national anthem, almost everyone has a unique flair to their gameday presentation. And that is no different for the Detroit Lions, as Ford Field has consistently been one of the toughest places for opponents to play.
One of the biggest additions has been the arrival of the Lions stadium DJ, Djrayyadig, who does an amazing job of incorporating both modern and old-school Detroit-centric hits, especially during pre-game warmups. Then there is the massive presence of Theo Gridiron Spight. From leading the singing of “Gridiron Heroes” after the Lions score, to his countdown that gets the crowd amped up just before kickoff.
Overall, the Lions’ gameday presentation at Ford Field is S-tier stuff. However, one thing that came up recently when talking to a friend is the fact that we don’t have anything that specifically signifies the start of the fourth quarter. That brings us to today’s question of the day—what fourth quarter tradition would you want incorporated into gamedays?
My answer: I would go with something along the lines of a song that gets the players and fans going as the game turns to the fourth and final quarter. It could be the same song week-to-week, or it could be a rotation of tracks from Detroit’s history. One of the first that comes to mind is Tee Grizzley’s “First Day Out,” or Trick Trick and Eminem’s, “Welcome to Detroit.”
If we wanted to keep it old school, it could be a timeless, legendary classic like Marvin Gaye’s “Trouble Man.” I think this would be a great way to pay homage to the city while also getting the crowd ready for the fourth quarter.
What do you think? What kind of fourth quarter or in-game tradition would you want implemented at Ford Field? Let us know in the comments below.
