Chiefs’ WR Injury Woes Could Be Fixed With One Major Trade

The Kansas City Chiefs have been pretty snake-bitten when it comes to keeping healthy wide receivers on their roster.

Second-leading receiver Tyquan Thornton suffered a gruesome ankle injury nearly two weeks ago against the Las Vegas Raiders that will likely sideline him the rest of the season.

Rashee Rice could miss some time with hamstring and knee injuries, and both Jeff Caldwell and Jimmy Holiday have been on injured reserve since the end of August.

As things sit now, Xavier Worthy (14 catches, 133 yards, one touchdown), Jalen Royals (three catches, 17 yards, one TD), Cyrus Allen and Nikko Remigio are the only healthy WRs on Kansas City’s roster — and the latter two haven’t recorded a catch this season, which is why Kristopher Knox of Bleacher Report thinks they should look to upgrade the position.

Knox recently named the Chiefs as a possible landing spot for disgruntled Cleveland Browns wide receiver Jerry Jeudy, suggesting the Chiefs could send the Browns a conditional 2027 fifth-round pick in return.

“According to NFL insider Jordan Schultz, it's ‘pretty well known around the league’ that Jeudy is available,” Knox wrote. “Per Schultz, the Browns would prefer to get a third- or fourth-round pick in exchange for the receiver, though that may be difficult.

“The 27-year-old struggled through last season and has fallen out of the game plan this year as Concepcion, Boston, and tight end Harold Fannin Jr. have become the go-to targets. Still, Jeudy is a talented pass-catcher who made the Pro Bowl just two years ago following a 1,229-yard season. His skill set hasn't disappeared, and his 2026 base salary of $1.5 million should appeal to budget-conscious teams.”

Jeudy (eight catches for 81 yards in five games) has been almost a non-factor this season with the emergence of Boston and Concepcion. However, he had a 90-reception, 1,229-yard, four-TD season just two years ago.

In Kansas City he would see much more than the three targets per game he’s currently getting in Cleveland. Jeudy would also give quarterback Patrick Mahomes the kind of reliable big-play target he’s been missing ever since the team traded away Tyreek Hill.
