Kathmandu, October 12
After winning the general secretary post at the Nepali Congress’s 15th General Convention, Dila Sangraula Pant has said she will work with commitment to make the party what the young generation wants.
Giving a brief reaction after being elected general secretary, Sangraula said she felt both happiness and a sense of responsibility.
She said she is committed to a campaign to take the Nepali Congress to new heights, move it down a new path, and build the party according to the aspirations of the young generation.
On becoming the Congress’s first woman general secretary, she described it less as a personal achievement than as a matter of pride for women.
She said the sisters affiliated with the Women’s Association had voted for her and brought her to this position, and that it is a matter of pride for all women.
Speaking about her responsibilities within the party as general secretary, Sangraula said she will play a strong role.
She noted that she has already served as president of the Women’s Association and has experience working in various posts and bodies of the organisation.
Recounting her eight months of experience as joint general secretary, she said she would move forward, dedicated to the party’s plans and programmes.
