Qatar Airways Western Sydney flights will begin on 15 December 2027, linking the new airport with Doha three times a week, Executive Traveller reported on Wednesday.
However, tickets go on sale much earlier, on 19 December 2026. Later, the airline hopes to fly daily by the end of 2028, the Australian travel site said.
The Qatar Airways Western Sydney route will connect travellers from Sydney’s outer west and southwest with more than 170 destinations. Western Sydney International Airport (WSI) opens to passengers on Sunday 25 October.
WSI chief executive Simon Hickey said customers would reach more than 250 destinations within 14 months of opening.
“The timing of the service utilises one of WSI’s key competitive advantages – it’s 24-hour capacity,” Hickey said.
Flights through the Doha hub
Flight QR907 will leave Western Sydney at 4:10pm every Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday, reaching Doha at 11pm. According to Executive Traveller, passengers can then join an early-morning wave of connections to the UK, Europe, Africa and the Gulf.
In the other direction, Qatar Airways Western Sydney flight QR906 will depart Doha at 1:40am. It will then land at WSI at 11:45pm every Monday, Wednesday and Friday.
Qatar Airways also flies between Doha and Athens. Previously, Greek City Times followed one traveller’s Qsuite journey from Sydney to Athens via Doha.
The new flights will add to the airline’s long-standing Sydney-Doha service. In addition, Virgin Australia told Executive Traveller it will codeshare on the Qatar Airways Western Sydney route.
Qsuite business class and Starlink
Qatar Airways will fly a Boeing 777-300ER on the route, with 42 Qsuite business class seats and 312 economy seats. Also, all passengers will get free Starlink Wi-Fi, the airline said.
Each Qsuite has a sliding privacy door and a seat that turns into a fully flat bed. Adjoining suites can also open up into a ‘double’ or ‘quad’, the site said.
Executive Traveller said Qatar Airways is the fifth and largest international airline to sign on at the $5.3 billion airport. It joins Air New Zealand, Singapore Airlines, Fiji Airways and Vietjet.
Additionally, the $16 million WSI Take-Off Fund is supporting the Qatar Airways Western Sydney flights. The airport and the NSW Government fund it jointly.
Qatar Airways Group Chief Executive Hamad Al Khater said the route would create “new opportunities for trade, tourism and investment between Australia, Qatar and the wider world.”
Earlier, in May, the federal government cleared Qatar for seven weekly WSI flights, Greek City Times reported.
