Two Sierra Leonean nationals, Ousman Fullah and Mariama Karbo, have pleaded not guilty to charges of conspiracy and obtaining money by false pretence at Brikama Magistrates’ Court. They are alleged scammers using the name of QNET, a global direct-selling lifestyle and wellbeing company.
The pair appeared before Magistrate A. Darboe on Monday, 19 October. Prosecutor Sgt M. Badjie represented the Inspector General of Police, while lawyer T. Bayo appeared for the accused.
The charge sheet alleged that in September 2026, in Farato, West Coast Region, Fullah and Karbo conspired to commit a felony. They are also accused of obtaining $2,500, equivalent to D175,000, from Isata Sheriff by falsely claiming they would arrange her travel to Cyprus. A third count alleged they obtained $4,000, equivalent to D292,000, from Mariama Jallow using the same claim. The total amount in the two allegations is $6,500, or D467,000. The defendants denied all three charges. The court recorded their pleas as not guilty.
Sgt Badjie asked for an adjournment to bring the prosecution’s first witness to court. She said she did not oppose bail. Magistrate Darboe granted each defendant bail of D400,000, with one Gambian surety.
The case was adjourned to 25 November for the first prosecution witness to testify.
