DIMAPUR: The National People’s Youth Front (NPYF), the youth wing of the National People’s Party (NPP) in Nagaland, has rejected the portrayal of recent developments within the party as a complete “mass resignation” or collapse of the state organisation, asserting that the NPYF remains intact and continues to function.
In a statement, NPYF Nagaland State president Yabang Imchen and general secretary (organisation) Neil Verma said describing the situation as a total organisational breakdown was misleading.
The NPYF also raised questions over the authenticity of a resignation document currently being circulated, stating that one of the state parent-body office bearers whose signature reportedly appeared on the document had been out of station for nearly three months.
The statement questioned whether the concerned office bearer was aware of the document and had personally authorised or signed it.
It said the authenticity of any digitally reproduced or AI-generated signature should be independently verified before the document was presented as an official resignation.
According to the NPYF, the present situation largely stemmed from insufficient consultation with state office bearers, particularly over the formation of the Interim Committee.
It added that inadequate communication and a slow response from the National People’s Party national leadership at its headquarters in Shillong had further aggravated the situation, creating confusion and mistrust within the state organisation.
Emphasising the need for constructive engagement, the National People’s Youth Front said the priority should be to address workers’ grievances, listen to party members and rebuild trust between the state and national leadership, rather than create the impression that the organisation had been completely dismantled.
“The NPP Nagaland organisation cannot be defined by one document or one narrative,” the statement said, adding that the organisation should be defined by the workers who continued to stand by it, work for it and believe in its future.
