A 'vulnerable' man mauled to death by a 30-stone tiger after he inexplicably jumped into a zoo enclosure was visiting alone, police have said.
The un-named man, who witnesses described as being autistic or having learning difficulties, was not being accompanied by family or carers before the shocking incident.
A South Yorkshire Police spokesman said today (mon): "It is not believed that the man who died at the Yorkshire Wildlife Park was being accompanied by anybody."
Yorkshire Wildlife Park located near Doncaster, was shut on Saturday after a man jumped into the orange-and-black striped animal's enclosure.

Tragically, he was pronounced dead at the scene, South Yorkshire Police later said.
But today police chiefs said they believed the man had been visiting the park alone without anyone supervising his actions.
The detail emerged as some people posting on social media posters were blasted for using Premier League football team Hull City A.F.C chant "you've been mauled by the tigers" to mock the man's death.
Videos posted on social media using the club's chant racked up tens of thousands of likes.
They have since been condemned by other users, branding them "disgusting" and "showing no respect".
Hull City A.F.C. have been approached for comment.
The Health and Safety Executive (HSE) confirmed they would not be investigating the incident but said that Doncaster Metropolitan Borough Council are expected to probe the tragic death.
The council acts as the local planning and licensing authority for the zoo, according to the government.
Police also said they would not be releasing any details of the victim as requested by the family.
Though they added the man's details have been passed on to the local Doncaster Coroners.
The zoo remained closed today following the tragic incident. It is unclear if it will be re-opened to tomorrow.
