Algarve Emporium Charity is under the auspices of Associação Guarda-Chuva (registered charity NIPC 515531928). Their focus is to help families in Tunes and now Algoz who are financially challenged.
Each Friday, the volunteers from the Algarve Emporium hand over bags of food and other essentials to the needy of Tunes (and more recently Algoz).
The food is provided by donations, such as those brought by Pat on Friday and also from the trolleys that you might find at local supermarkets.
ALL (the Algarve Ladies that Lunch) is an organisation of nearly 100 ladies that like to eat, talk and raise money for charity. The members live all over the central Algarve and have been running under different names for more than 20 years. At the moment they organise 2 lunches per year. One just before the summer break and another just before Christmas. At each lunch, organisations are invited to arrange stalls where items of interest to the ladies can be sold. These stalls typically have clothes, ornaments, jewellery and other gifts.
Each year they raise money for charity and their donations usually top €1000 per year.
The ladies were recently asked to nominate two charities. The Algarve Emporium received most votes, and the local Bombeiros were runners-up.
The donation to the Bombeiros will be organised for later in the year.
