Pacquiao was impressive in his last fight — all things considered. The then 46-year-old boxed Mario Barrios to majority draw in a fight many thought he won. That fight happened in July 2025. After more than a year away from the ring, Pacquiao is seemingly ready to step back into the fray. Rumored opponents are previously retired Kell Brook, Joe Cordina and Jack Catterall. Briefly, there was talk of Shakur Stevenson facing Pacquiao.

I’m glad that didn’t come to fruition. I’d hate to see arguably the best fighter in the world beating up on a legend. If Pacquiao is going to fight on, it would be best if he were matched with guys either close to his age or fighters who haven’t already proven themselves to be the cream of the crop. The Catterall fight should make Pacquiao fans nervous, but the other two may not be the worst look for him. Don’t get me wrong, Cordina and Brook will probably be favored, but perhaps there won’t be legitimate fear for Pacquiao’s well being in those fights.
Pacquiao’s planned rematch with Floyd Mayweather was postponed indefinitely after contract disputes.

In any case, it’s a pleasure to watch a true legend of the sport compete and it is inspirational to see him having kept himself in fighting shape for so long. Who knows? Maybe he has another amazing performance left in the tank.
