According to AFP, Liverpool fans shouted “cheats” as Manchester City arrived at Anfield. Flags and scarves mocking Manchester City were sold in the streets around the stadium.
When the City players ran onto the pitch, the crowd erupted.
The scandal broke during the international break. The Premier League appointed an independent commission to investigate City. The commission has, among other things, found that the club committed 114 breaches and artificially inflated its revenues and reduced its costs by the equivalent of almost 12 billion kronor (about $1.1 billion) between 2009 and 2018, to give the appearance of complying with financial rules.

This season, Manchester City have started with five straight wins and were top of the table heading into Sunday’s match.
Liverpool’s Swedish star Alexander Isak is injured and missing from the match, which is 0–0 after half an hour.
Manchester City have been charged with 115 breaches. The Premier League has ruled that the club breached more than 100 of them following an investigation by an independent commission. The club is guilty of all the charges relating to financial regulations.
The commission has concluded that the club artificially inflated its revenues and reduced its costs by a total of £900 million between 2009 and 2018, to give the appearance of complying with financial rules.

Any sanctions will be decided by the same independent commission that investigated City. Exactly when this will happen is not known.
City’s former chairman, David Bernstein, has said the club should be relegated from the top flight.
