Rift Valley Regional Commissioner Dr. Abdi Hassan confirmed the deployment in a press statement released on Monday, October 19, warning that anyone seeking to use the national holiday as cover for criminal activity would face the full force of the law.
"The national celebration does not give anyone immunity from the law. Anyone who engages in criminal activity, threatens public safety, or disrupts peace will be dealt with in accordance with the law," he stated.

Security deployment across Eldoret
Uniformed officers, plain-clothes personnel, and traffic police have been stationed at the stadium, surrounding parking areas, accommodation facilities, and critical installations across the city.
Officers from the National Government Administration Officers (NGAOs) and the National Youth Service will be on hand to assist members of the public during the march-past.
Security at hotels has been reinforced, with personnel drawn from neighbouring counties to bolster numbers. Dr. Hassan said patrols would run continuously before, during, and after the event.
"There can be no meaningful development without security. Security is the foundation of peace, investment, trade and prosperity. Education and the delivery of public services depend on it," he said, adding that national celebrations do not confer immunity from the law.
Banditry progress and election warning
Dr. Hassan described the overall security situation in the Rift Valley as favourable, crediting the Maliza Uhalifu initiative with driving progress against banditry in the North Rift region.
He said the government would sustain intelligence-led operations targeting both perpetrators and financiers of crime.
The Regional Commissioner called for closer cooperation between security agencies, administrators, local leaders, and ordinary citizens to ensure lasting peace.
"Cooperation is essential to ensuring that peace is not temporary but a lasting condition for prosperity," he said.
With the 2027 General Election approaching, Dr. Hassan used the occasion to caution residents against hate speech, ethnic hostility, and inflammatory language.
"Our diversity is a national asset, not a source of division," he said, urging the public to celebrate Mashujaa Day responsibly.
