South Kitsap swimmer Tessa Hurguy and Bremerton football player Kaliam are the Kitsap Sun athletes of the week for Oct. 5-10, selected by readers in an online poll.
Athletes are nominated by their respective coaches, and the top vote-getters for both boys and girls are declared the winners. The poll is sponsored by Kevin Krieger's Geico office in Silverdale.
Hurguy, a sophomore, achieved "iron man" status for the Wolves by qualifying for the state meet in all eight individual races, based on achieving certain time standards.
Hunter, a senior, had four catches for 149 yards and four touchdowns in the Knights' 39-37 win over North Mason.
Other nominees were Bremerton swimmer Abigail Uzcategui Lopez, Klahowya girls soccer player Sylvia Kemp and Klahowya football player Cohen Woodell.
The next poll will appear online Oct. 21.
