Chairman of the Oyo State Housing Corporation, Chief Ademola Omotoso, has commended RAHMY International Limited, a real estate firm for the progress recorded at Boulevard City Estate, Owode-Apata, in Ido Local Government Area of Oyo State, less than two months after the corporation and the developer signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU).
Omotoso gave the commendation during an inspection visit to the project site alongside members of his management team.
He expressed satisfaction with the pace of work recorded in the first two months of the agreement, describing the progress as impressive, particularly when compared with other projects that had taken considerably longer to achieve similar milestones.
He urged the developer to sustain the momentum to meet the planned inauguration target at the end of December.
Speaking on behalf of the company, Mr Adewale Kabir commended the government and the Housing Corporation for initiating the project, describing it as a landmark step towards addressing housing needs and urban renewal in the area.
He said construction work was progressing, and expressing confidence that key infrastructure would be completed in the next three months, ahead of the planned inauguration.
Reviewing the ongoing construction, which includes road alignment, drainage infrastructure and perimeter fencing, among others, Kabir disclosed that work commenced around July and that significant progress had been recorded within approximately two months, despite challenges posed by the site’s natural terrain.
He identified the presence of more than 70 ponds on the project area as one of the major challenges confronting the construction team.
According to him, some of the ponds are extensive and deep, making movement around the site difficult and potentially dangerous.
Kabir explained that the ponds were being filled and closed to create a safer and more accessible environment for construction activities and future residents.
He added that additional truckloads of rubble and suitable filling materials would be brought to the site to complete the work.
“Although the process has increased construction costs, we remain committed to meeting the agreed standards established with the Housing Corporation. Compromising on the foundation could undermine the project’s long-term durability,” Kabir said.
He described road construction as another major component of the ongoing work, noting that the team was clearing and aligning the proposed road network to connect different sections of the estate and improve accessibility.
Kabir said that an excavator was already being used for road alignment, while further excavation and foundation preparations would follow.
He explained that the roads would require a strong, rocky base before concrete paving could commence.
Beyond roads and drainage infrastructure, Kabir disclosed that the project included a designated commercial section intended to provide essential shopping facilities for residents and people living in neighbouring communities.
The proposed commercial area is expected to accommodate shops and other everyday services, allowing members of the public to access these facilities without entering the residential section of the estate.
He explained that the arrangement was designed to protect residents’ privacy while ensuring that commercial facilities remained accessible to the wider public.
Kabir also identified perimeter fencing and lighting as key priorities, noting that these facilities would enhance security and improve the overall appearance of the development.
Emphasising the importance of creating a safe and functional living environment, Kabir said the project’s objectives extended beyond constructing buildings to provide essential infrastructure that would support residents’ comfort and safety.
Despite the challenges associated with the site’s drainage and ground conditions, the project team expressed confidence that the outstanding work could be completed in the next three months, ahead of the planned inauguration.
Reacting to the new development, Baale of Bode Igbo, Owode-Apata, Chief Idris Bello Agbomeji, lauded the state government and the developer company for signing a MoU at ensuring that the forest becomes a city.
