INSEE Cement has launched INSEE Ultima Cement in Bangladesh, focusing on strength, durability and long-term performance for buildings and infrastructure.
The launch took place at Fortis Downtown Resort on Madani Avenue in Dhaka on 10 October, alongside a technical discussion on cement technology and durable construction, according to the press release.
Dr Kanthasat Boontem, CEO and managing director of INSEE Cement, launched the product with other senior company officials.
They included Commercial Director Mohammad Abu Sayeed, Head of Manufacturing GMG Mostafa, Head of Finance and Controlling Abrar Ahmed Mustafa, and Mohammad Ali Bostami, director of human resources, administration and IT and company secretary.
PN Iyer, adviser to the CEO and an experienced cement industry professional, also participated.
Presented under the message "INSEE Ultima: The Ultimate Solution for Strength and Performance", the product is a Portland composite cement made using raw materials from Thailand and European technology.
The company said it was designed to meet different construction needs, with an emphasis on strength, durability and lasting performance.
A technical discussion titled "From Strength to Long-Lasting Performance" featured Professor Dr Syed Ishtiaq Ahmad and Professor Dr Raquib Ahsan of Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET), alongside PN Iyer.
Speakers discussed concrete strength at 28 days and how it can develop over time.
They explained the importance of proper mixing, an appropriate water-to-cement ratio, correct concrete placement and regular water curing in improving concrete quality and durability.
The discussion also addressed the environmental impact of construction materials and the importance of extending the service life of buildings and infrastructure.
Speakers highlighted the need for testing and technical checks before introducing new cement products to the market.
Such assessments may involve organisations including the Bangladesh Standards and Testing Institution and BUET.
INSEE Cement said the launch reflected its commitment to supporting Bangladesh's construction sector and helping develop safer, stronger and longer-lasting infrastructure.
