The Makerere University Muslim Students Association Daawa Show on Salam TV, hosted by Abdul Rahman Nuuhu Ssempijja and Zalwango Shabirah, has focused on the importance of Tawheed in families.
During the discussion, the presenters explained that Tawheed means affirming the oneness of Allah and forms the foundation of a Muslim's faith and worship. They noted that it shapes purpose, responsibility, and daily life and that families play a key role in nurturing it through teaching, practice, and example.
Citing the Qur'an, "Worship Allah and associate nothing with Him..." (Qur'an 4:36), the hosts emphasized that Tawheed begins at home and that building a home centered on Allah requires making worship part of family life, including Salah and Du'a, talking about Allah with love, gratitude and reverence, and connecting faith to everyday choices.
They further highlighted the role of parents as examples, saying children learn from what adults consistently practice. Parents were urged to model honesty, patience, gratitude, and trust in Allah to keep promises and let their conduct reflect Islamic values.
On family values, the discussion pointed out that Tawheed instills sincerity in seeking Allah's pleasure, trust in Allah alongside responsible action, gratitude for blessings, accountability, and compassion towards relatives and neighbours.
Regarding family relationships, the show stressed that faith should shape how family members treat one another through respect between parents and children, resolving disagreements with fairness and calm speech, and reminding one another gently without humiliation.
The hosts also addressed challenges facing families today, including busy schedules pushing worship aside, the influence of online content and peer pressure, and difficulties in discussing sensitive questions.
They advised families to make time for worship and dialogue, listen carefully, and seek reliable Islamic knowledge.
The show concluded that a family strengthened by Tawheed keeps Allah at the center of worship and daily decisions, with faith nurtured through teaching, consistent practice, good character, and mercy.
The discussion referenced key sources including Qur'an 4:36 on worshipping Allah and showing goodness to others, Qur'an 31:13 on Luqman's advice to his son about Shirk, Qur'an 112:1-4 on Allah's oneness, and Qur'an 66:6 on responsibility for protecting one's family.
