A precision air strike conducted by the Air Component of the Joint Task Force (North East) Operation HADIN KAI has neutralized over 40 Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) terrorists, including a high-ranking commander.
The military operation, executed on October 10, 2026, targeted a heavily fortified ISWAP enclave located at Badu Village, south of Gudumbali in the Guzamala Local Government Area of Borno State.
According to a statement released by the operation’s spokesman, Captain Mohammed Goni, the decisive strike was the result of actionable, intelligence-driven surveillance.
He said the military had received credible reports indicating that a large concentration of ISWAP fighters had gathered at the location to plan and launch coordinated attacks against military troops stationed in Sector 3.
Acting swiftly on the intelligence, the air component deployed assets for targeted aerial surveillance.
He said the fighters suspected hideouts and logistics facilities were positively identified, and a precision air strike was unleashed directly on the primary building occupied by the insurgents.
Military authorities revealed that the targeted fighters belonged to ISWAP’s “Murabitun” element, a specialized, highly mobile fighting unit responsible for conducting armed patrols, coordinating offensives, and sustaining terrorist activities throughout the sector.
He said in addition to the human casualties, the raid dealt a severe logistical blow to the insurgent network.
Goni revealed that the air strike successfully destroyed two operational vehicles and approximately 20 motorcycles used by the terrorists for mobility, supply runs, and offensive maneuvers.
He said that the destruction of these assets significantly degrades ISWAP’s fighting capability and effectively thwarts imminent attacks planned against military positions and surrounding civilian communities in the Lake Chad basin.
The Joint Task Force emphasized that the successful operation highlights the growing effectiveness of intelligence-led, technology-enabled, and tightly coordinated air and ground campaigns in dismantling terrorist infrastructures.
Reiterating their commitment to regional security, Operation HADIN KAI pledged to maintain relentless pressure on remaining insurgent pockets.
The military vowed to continue utilizing combined air and ground operations to eliminate terrorist threats, protect vulnerable populations, and restore lasting peace and stability to Borno State and the wider North East region.
Further assessments are ongoing to determine the full extent of the damage inflicted on the terrorist network.
