Japanese singer-songwriter teams up with Malaysian artiste, ahead of debut album and Southeast Asian promotional runs
Japanese singer-songwriter Rol3ert has released With You, the advance single from his debut full-length album Meet Me in My Head, which features Malaysian singer-songwriter and producer Johnson.
Not only Rol3ert’s first collaboration with a Southeast Asian artiste on record, With You was written at a songwriting camp in Kyoto with an internationally diverse group of creators as a unique male-to-male duet.
With You portrays the two opposing sides of memory through the bittersweet lyrics anchored by the contrasting shades of Rol3ert and Johnson’s vocals. Beneath the single’s smooth, urban sound runs a quiet struggle.
Rol3ert sets sights on Southeast Asia
Beyond With You, the upcoming album will span 14 songs written and sung in Japanese and English, such as Meaning, Saviour, Kodoku and Hope, with brand new songs.
Mastered by Mike Bozzi, whose credits include Childish Gambino’s This Is America and Jung Kook’s Seven, Meet Me in My Head will be available in CD and digital formats.
Following the release of the debut album on Oct 21, Rol3ert will follow it up by heading to Southeast Asia for a promotional run from Oct 28 to Nov 1.
On Oct 28, he will play his first-ever show in Indonesia. The room is small on purpose: he will perform album tracks, talk and stay afterwards to meet everyone who came. Entry is free, dinner is included and there is merch to be won on the night. The other confirmed show will be in Manila.
