Massimiliano Allegri has named a squad of 20 players for Tuesday evening’s Champions League match between Napoli and Bodo/Glimt at the Stadio Maradona, which could be crucial in the coach’s bid to turn his Partenopei career around.
Napoli remain without a point in the Champions League after the first two matches of the 2026-27 season, falling to a 1-0 defeat at home against Arsenal in the opening round of fixtures and a 3-1 defeat away against Villarreal last week.
Their form in Serie A hasn’t been particularly inspiring either, with 10 points earned from the first seven league games of the season, and on Saturday, they were beaten 1-0 by a Venezia side that had been on zero points before facing Napoli.
Allegri has lost five of his first nine competitive matches in charge of the club and now finds himself in desperate need of a result against Bodo/Glimt on Tuesday night to lift the spirits.
Napoli are still without Alessandro Buongiorno, Costantino Favasuli, Antonio Vergara and David Neres, and have recently confirmed that Alisson Santos is set for another spell on the sidelines as well after picking up another hamstring injury over the weekend.
Allegri looks set to go with a back four against Bodo/Glimt on Tuesday evening, having deployed a back three against Venezia in Serie A over the weekend. Rasmus Hojlund is also expected to return at centre-forward after the unsuccessful experiment with Giovane and Lorenzo Lucca up top last time out.
Kick-off this evening is due at 20.00 BST.
