The Wild ran into a red-hot goaltender on Thursday night in Calgary, which resulted in a frustrating 2-1 loss.
Minnesota added captain Jared Spurgeon back to the lineup on Thursday, but rising forward Maxim Shabanov was a late scratch with an upper-body injury. Injuries have followed the Wild all season, and they delivered another frustrating performance in Calgary.
The Flames struck first with two goals early in the first period, and the Wild struggled to generate the offense they needed. Michael McCarron scored his first goal of the season late in the third period, but it was too little, too late, and Calgary held on for a 2-1 win.

Minnesota convincingly outshot Calgary 37-22, but Flames goaltender Devin Cooley had an unreal performance with 36 saves. Jesper Wallstedt stopped 20 of the 22 shots he faced.
The Wild are now 6-3-2 on the season. They’re off Friday before another late-night West Coast road game against the Seattle Kraken on Saturday night, which is scheduled to start at 9 p.m. CT.
