ⓘ Fujifilm
Alongside the launch of the Fujifilm X-T6, no fewer than eleven older Fujifilm X and GFX cameras are set to receive a battery upgrade. According to the latest rumors, Fujifilm is launching a higher-capacity battery that is the same size as the current battery.

Rumor has it that the Fujifilm X-T6 will hit the market in November. One of the mirrorless camera's more significant upgrades is the brand-new Fujifilm NP-W255 battery, which is said to offer a capacity of 2,550 mAh. By comparison, the Fujifilm NP-W235 ($99 on Amazon), which is used in the older Fujifilm X-T5, among other models, offers a capacity of 2,200 mAh.
The new battery thus stores 350 mAh, or just under 16 percent, more energy. FujiRumors has now learned that this new battery is also compatible with all cameras that currently use the older NP-W235. This means that most Fujifilm GFX medium-format cameras and selected Fujifilm X cameras with APS-C sensors will get a battery upgrade, but not the Fujifilm X100 series, which uses the smaller NP-W126S. The following cameras are therefore compatible with the Fujifilm NP-W255:
- Fujifilm GFX100 II
- Fujifilm GFX100S II
- Fujifilm GFX100S
- Fujifilm GFX50S II
- Fujifilm GFX100RF
- Fujifilm GFX Eterna 55
- Fujifilm X-H2S
- Fujifilm X-H2
- Fujifilm X-T5
- Fujifilm X-T4
- Fujifilm X-S20
The Fujifilm X-T6, which will be unveiled alongside this new battery, is reportedly getting a number of small but significant upgrades. The three control dials and the rear D-pad are said to be redesigned to simplify operation, while the improved AI autofocus is expected to work significantly faster and more reliably. It is not yet known whether Fujifilm will use the same 40-megapixel X-Trans sensor as in the previous model.
