Stephen A. Smith is calling out Philadelphia Eagles GM Howie Roseman for his failure to comment on the Jalen Hurts saga.
Eagles coach Nick Sirianni gave a press conference on Monday on Hurts, who is out for the rest of the season with blood clots in his lungs, but Roseman has yet to publicly address the situation.
“I’m not knocking the coach, I’m simply saying, somebody should have asked, ‘Where’s Howie? Where is he? He’s the boss?” Smith said Wednesday on First Take.
NFL Chief Medical Officer Dr. Allen Sills defended the league and Eagles’ medical staff in treating Hurts’ clots. The NFL does not plan to penalize the team.
Late on Tuesday night, the National Football League Players Association (NFLPA) responded to the NFL’s claims. The NFLPA announced an investigation.
Meantime, per ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler, Hurts’ camp feels that Roseman has been “exceptional” throughout this process.
“He was ‘extremely hands on’ throughout, ‘worried about Jalen’s health more than anything else,’ the source added,” per Fowler.
Still, Smith, a former general columnist for the Philadelphia Inquirer, called out Roseman.
“The NFL can say whatever they want,” Smith said. “...Something went wrong, we get that part. But the big thing to me is, Howie Roseman, where the hell are you? You gotta answer those questions.”
Smith reminded viewers that he was a columnist in Philadelphia and said, “I would be in his ass, night and day. We’re not talking about anything football related. I want Howie. Where are you?”
