BUSAN — The Busan Metropolitan Government said it will appoint Ha Min-sang, an operations support officer at the Corruption Investigation Office for High-ranking Officials (CIO), as its new director general for planning and coordination, effective on the 26th.
Ha graduated from Hyekwang High School in Busan and studied public administration at Yonsei University. He passed the 47th higher civil service examination and entered public service in 2004. He has worked at the Office of the Senior Secretary for Public Administration and Local Autonomy in the Presidential Secretariat, and served at the Ministry of the Interior and Safety as head of the resident participation and collaboration division, legal affairs officer and honors and awards officer. He had served as an operations support officer at the CIO until recently.
The city expects Ha to draw on the policy planning and coordination experience he gained at central government ministries to align the direction of major policies and strengthen cooperation with the central government.
"I expect him to play an important role in organically linking the central government's policy direction with Busan's development strategy and in improving the execution of key pending projects," Mayor Jeon Jae-soo said.
