KUALA LUMPUR: Singer Nadeera Zaini admits that while vocal talent comes first, good looks and image remain crucial in the entertainment industry.
The 33-year-old Mersing-born vocalist revealed she has faced criticism over her appearance, forcing her to constantly present her best self.
Nadeera also addressed online criticism over her tendency to pass the microphone to the audience during live performances.
She explained that it is never due to an inability to hit high notes, but rather pure excitement from seeing fans sing along.
Rather than feeling hurt, Nadeera views social media feedback as a sign of support and a way to grow stronger.
"Thank you for caring. Even though it can be annoying at times, the criticism makes me stronger. It has reached a point where I can just laugh it off . As long as it helps me improve, I accept it. I just want to work hard and prove my worth."
After a decade, her career reached a major milestone when her hit single 'Bukan Lagi Kita' surpassed 100 million views on YouTube.
