The admission test results of Dawood University of Engineering and Technology (DUET) have revealed significant differences in the performance of students from various education boards in Sindh, with candidates from Cambridge, Aga Khan, and Karachi recording higher success rates than those from several boards in interior Sindh.
According to a report, the entry test conducted by the Institute of Business Administration (IBA) Karachi showed that 92% of candidates from the Karachi Board qualified, while students from Cambridge and the Aga Khan University Examination Board recorded even higher success rates.
All candidates from the Cambridge examination system passed the test, achieving a 100% success rate. Meanwhile, 48 out of 49 candidates from the Aga Khan University Examination Board qualified, bringing its success rate to approximately 98%.
The Karachi Board recorded the highest number of applicants, with 1,662 students participating in the admission process. Of these, 1,521 candidates qualified, resulting in a success rate of nearly 92%.
However, students from several education boards in interior Sindh recorded comparatively lower results.
The Shaheed Benazirabad (Nawabshah) Board achieved a 78% success rate. Larkana followed with 75%, while Hyderabad recorded 74%.
Mirpurkhas achieved a 71% success rate, while Sukkur recorded 69%.
The Ziauddin University Examination Board recorded a success rate of around 73%. Meanwhile, students from the Sindh Board of Technical Education achieved 62%, the lowest rate among the reported boards.
Only three examination systems achieved success rates of approximately 92% or higher. These included Cambridge, Aga Khan and Karachi.
A similar performance gap emerged in the earlier admission test conducted by NED University of Engineering and Technology.
In the NED entry test, Cambridge candidates achieved a success rate of 94%, followed by the Aga Khan University Examination Board at 88%. The Federal Board recorded 83.71%, while Karachi Board students achieved an 80% success rate.
