A French retailer may have created the most enticing Ocarina of Time pre-order bonus for Zelda fans. Retro gaming enthusiasts can collect a replica N64 game box to hold the Switch 2 game. Stores worldwide are bundling various extras to commemorate the remake’s release date.
There are plenty of Zelda: Ocarina of Time remake pre-order bonuses to choose from. Unfortunately, many extras are region- or store-specific, as at Micromania in France. Buyers who reserve the Switch 2 game can score a replica N64 box during a midnight launch event.
A blast from the past
If a Nintendo fan is lucky enough to live in France, the store’s website lists locations that will celebrate the Ocarina of Time release date. The retro packaging is large enough to protect the current-gen plastic case that is likely adorned with the textured foil-cover variation. It’s inspired by the original black-and-gold container European gamers purchased in 1998.
Micromania also has a separate incentive for online shoppers. Customers who pre-order the Switch 2 title can expect a black-and-green wallet and a set of spiritual stones. The loot should be ready for pickup by the time the modernized Zelda game launches.
Although the French retailer’s offer won’t be widely available, shops in other countries had similar ideas. The most comparable Ocarina of Time pre-order bonus is at EB Games Canada. Instead of an N64 box, buyers receive a holographic slipcover using the classic North American design.
Japan perhaps boasts the best selection of trinkets for supporters. Amazon decided on an acrylic coaster, while competitors selected items ranging from figures to a wooden diorama display stand.
Options for U.S. buyers
Gamers in the United States may feel slighted by their options. Like Micromania, Best Buy is holding a midnight launch event on the Ocarina of Time release date. Patrons can take home their pre-ordered copy of the remake. Unfortunately, there are no extras besides the foil cover. The Zelda 40th Anniversary Switch 2 console and Pro Controller will also be stocked in limited quantities.
Frustratingly, collectors may find it impossible to gather the N64 box and all the other loot. Nintendo may yet create a collector’s edition that combines some of the targets in one package.
