The 2026 graduates of Dominion University, Ibadan, have been told not to stop learning, but to seek more knowledge in order to keep up with the various changes going on globally.
The Acting Vice-Chancellor of the university, Dr Jonah Akoun, gave the charge in his address during the 4th convocation ceremony of the institution on Saturday.
He stated that technology will change and industries will change, adding that if they stop learning to keep up with these changes, they will be left behind. He encouraged them to read and seek knowledge of the numerous changes ongoing worldwide, not only in their area of specialisation, but in other fields as well.
“There are some skills you have to learn to bring in extra income to cushion the effects of the harsh economy you may face in the future. Remember that the best investment you can make is in your brain,” he said.
In her address, the Pro-Chancellor of the university, Pastor Dr Mrs Dolapo Adelakun, charged the graduates to uphold their faith and trust in God, the resilience built over the years and a character of integrity. She urged them to allow their lives to impact their community, reminding them that life is not measured by what they have but by what they have given to make society a better place.

She called on the graduates to be active members of the alumni in order to join forces with the school to leave a lasting imprint on the institution.
The Chancellor, Bishop Taiwo Victor Adelakun, told the graduates to hold dearly the principles of godliness and integrity they have been taught and let their dealings and lifestyle be devoid of corruption and scandal.
“Our motto remains raising generational leaders that will salvage our country and continent from the looming collapse due to lack of visionary and purposeful leadership. I therefore, enjoin you all to go out there and make the difference. Go forth to change the destiny of a nation at crossroad. You must become the answer to Nigeria’s prayer and not a prayer point as the problem of the nation,” he concluded.
