Gabby Thomas (Rosie Bentham) has royally got one over on Robert Sugden (Ryan Hawley) in Emmerdale.
After concluding that he was going to buy The Hide, Robert took full advantage of Gabby’s vulnerable state following the death of Jimmy King (Nick Miles).
Jimmy died after crashing his car into a wedding marquee. The only reason he smashed into it was because he had to swerve his car to avoid hitting Vinny Dingle (Bradley Johnson), who was driving while on the phone to Gabby.
While Gabby wasn’t directly responsible for Jimmy and Dawn Taylor’s (Olivia Bromley) deaths, she made no effort to end her video call to Vinny, too focused on how heartbroken she was that she had been dumped by Billy Fletcher (Jay Kontzle).
On top of the guilt she felt in the aftermath, Gabby was also living with orthorexia. As part of her belief that everyone should consume ‘pure’ and ‘clean’ food, she switched up the menus at The Hide, but it had a negative impact on the business due to lack of interest in the extremely organic meal options.
Robert told Gabby to sell The Hide because it had become a failing business. This week, Robert’s lack of experience running a restaurant was highlighted when Gabby pointed out that he won’t be able to open as quickly as he hopes because the permits aren’t in his name.
Gabby suggested that Robert could reopen The Hide this week, but still keep her listed as the owner while she cancelled all the certificates and other licences.

Robert called Gabby a lifesaver, but he had no idea that Gabby still being listed as the owner meant she could do whatever she wanted with the place.
After Sadie King (Patsy Kensit) planted a seed in Gabby’s mind that left her wondering if Robert had played her, she got her revenge in tonight’s episode.
With full control over everything at The Hide, Gabby decided to gut the place out. When Robert and Serena Sugden (Casey Al-Shaqsy) arrived ahead of the opening, they were stunned to find the place completely empty.
Gabby wandered in, proud with how things had unfolded. It’s going to take weeks for Robert to apply and sort all of the correct permits, not to mention he doesn’t actually have enough money to fill the restaurant with new equipment.
Robert threatened to sue Gabby and she told him to go right ahead, knowing that he didn’t have the money for a legal case, and that it would take absolutely ages to complete it.
Gabby left, leaving Robert very annoyed.
In a panic about getting his hands on more money, Robert tells Joe Tate (Ned Porteous) and Jai Sharma (Chris Bisson) that they’re invited to a high stakes game of poker this week.
Kev Barton (Chris Coghill) decides he’s going along, and then discovers Claudette Anderson (Flo Wilson) is playing.
Just how will the poker night go?
Will Robert secure more money so the plan to run The Hide can get back on track?
