KUALA LUMPUR: Majlis Amanah Rakyat (Mara) must ensure allocations approved under the 2027 Budget reach their intended recipients, particularly students receiving educational assistance, its chairman Datuk Dr Asyraf Wajdi Dusuki said.
He said allocations approved in previous Budgets had sometimes failed to reach their intended recipients during implementation.
"My only hope is that the allocations under the Budget will be channeled as approved.
"What has happened in the past is that allocations were approved in the Budget, but when it came to implementation, the funds did not reach their intended recipients.
"That would be disappointing, particularly as 70 per cent of Mara's allocation is channelled towards education, including funding for Malay and Bumiputera students," he said at the closing ceremony of the 2026 MRSM Bintang Media programme today.
Asyraf said the allocation supported students at Mara's 345 educational institutions, as well as those sponsored to study at other universities and overseas.
Under the 2027 Budget, Mara will, among other initiatives, train and place 1,000 Bumiputera youths in high-growth sectors.
Trainees trained in electrical wiring at GiatMara will also help repair wiring in 20,000 homes belonging to poor families.
