FORT WALTON BEACH — Choctawhatchee football last played a game on Oct. 1, Hurricane Isaias altering the schedule and keeping the Big Green at just six games played through nine weeks.
To adjust for the makeup games, Choctaw's trip to Thompson for the regular season finale has been cancelled. And probably for the best, Thompson ranked second in the state of Alabama and 26th nationally and Choctaw already needing to play three games in 13 days just to get to nine games on the slate.

Now, instead of focusing on a trip to a 7-1 juggernaut outscoring foes 342-107 with its lone setback a 28-27 setback to unbeaten Prattville, Choctaw can stay at home, heal up and prepare for the postseason.
Remaining on the schedule is a three-game home stand, Gulf Breeze coming to town Friday, Booker T. Washington traveling to Joe Etheredge Stadium on Thursday, Oct. 29, and "The Game" set to be played Nov. 4.
The Big Green are in prime position to win a fifth-consecutive district title with Booker T. Washington and FWB left on the district slate. Frank Beasley's crew has won four straight after starting off the season 0-2, and they're bidding for a fifth straight region finals appearance after making the Final 4 last year.
