Despite the rise in remittances, the number of workers obtaining final labour approval for foreign employment declined. A total of 78,320 people received final labour approval in the first two months of the fiscal year, down from 90,198 during the same period last year.
Meanwhile, 52,163 people obtained re-entry labour approval, up from 45,884 a year earlier.
Remittances remain a major source of foreign currency for Nepal, supporting household spending on education, healthcare and daily necessities, as well as savings and the country’s external sector.
