In a vibrant effort to celebrate academic excellence and spur rural educational development, the Community Movement for the Promotion of Agricultural and Rural Education (COMPARE) Sierra Leone has awarded the top ten best-performing pupils from Kambia District in the 2026 National Primary School Examination (NPSE).
The prize-giving ceremony, hosted at COMPARE Sierra Leone’s district office, brought together prominent education stakeholders, traditional leadership representatives, teachers, and proud community members to honor the achievements of the successful candidates.
To support their transition to secondary education and encourage continued dedication to their studies, each recipient was presented with essential learning packages containing school bags, exercise books, pens, and other key educational materials.
Addressing attendees at the ceremony, COMPARE’s Director, Mr. Paul, commended the pupils for their hard work despite local challenges. He reaffirmed the organization’s steadfast commitment to uplifting young scholars and highlighted ambitious plans for the future.
“Despite the operational challenges we face, our commitment to recognizing and supporting outstanding pupils remains unwavering,” Mr. Paul stated. He added that COMPARE Sierra Leone aims to expand the initiative next year to honor 20 to 30 of the top NPSE candidates, with further long-term goals of extending awards to outstanding secondary school and university students.
The event drew notable local dignitaries, including the Kambia District Deputy Director of Education, along with representatives of the Paramount Chiefs of Gbile and Magbema Chiefdoms, underscoring strong community and institutional backing for local educational initiatives.
Speakers throughout the event emphasized that recognizing academic achievements is vital for nurturing talent, particularly among children in rural communities where educational resources are often limited.
Through initiatives like the NPSE awards, COMPARE Sierra Leone continues to promote academic excellence, inspire young learners across the district, and encourage sustained investment in the nation’s youth.
