KUALA LUMPUR: A man who stopped to help a family involved in a road accident experienced a heartbreaking moment he says he will never forget.
Witness Muhammad Auzaie said he never expected his journey home after visiting his wife and child at Hospital Tunku Azizah (HTA) to turn into such a painful experience.
He said he initially came across an accident by the roadside along Jalan Kuching.
"At first, I thought of just watching from the sidelines. But Allah moved my heart to help the family when I saw a father holding his child tightly, crying and pleading for help to take the child to hospital.
"My heart was touched. I imagined the child could be around the same age as my own. Without hesitation, I offered to take them to hospital on my motorcycle," he said in a post on the social media platform Threads yesterday.
Auzaie said he was moved by the father's desperate attempts to comfort his daughter and call her name throughout the journey.
"'Asiah, wake up, wake up, Asiah… We're going to the hospital. We're almost there.' Her father kept repeating Asiah's name, hoping the little girl would respond.
"Asiah was in a critical condition and bleeding heavily. I could only keep riding, hoping we would reach the hospital in time and she could be saved.
"But Allah knows best. The fate that awaited us was too painful to accept. Asiah eventually passed away," he said.
Auzaie said he still remembered the father's cries as he held his daughter on the motorcycle, repeatedly calling her name and hoping she would wake up.
"Some of Asiah's blood also stained my trousers. It was an experience I will find difficult to forget.
"That afternoon, I had been returning home after visiting my own wife and child. But on the way back, Allah allowed me to witness a father's desperate struggle to save his daughter before he had to face a loss he had never wished for.
"I am nobody to that family. I was simply someone who happened to be there and was given the opportunity by Allah to help as much as I could.
"But seeing a father cry while holding his child and calling her name repeatedly truly broke my heart. I imagined my own child. I cannot imagine what it would be like to be in Asiah's father's position," he said.
Auzaie said he prayed that Asiah's family would be granted strength and patience to cope with their loss.
He added that the father's cries and his desperate efforts to save his daughter would remain etched in his memory.
