MPhil and PhD students benefiting from scholarships under the Post-COVID-19 Skills Development and Productivity Enhancement Project (PSDPEP) have presented updates on their research at the Social Investment Fund (SIF), outlining their progress, achievements and expected outcomes.
The presentations, held on Wednesday, October 21, 2026, featured research into critical health issues, including drug-resistant mutations within and around the HIV-1 integrase gene among people living with HIV who are receiving dolutegravir-based antiretroviral therapy.
Another study examined cervical immune profiles and vital genetic markers as potential predictors of outcomes in oncogenic human papillomavirus (HPV) infections.
During the session, the students outlined the objectives of their respective studies, the stages they had reached and the results they expect to achieve as their research progresses.
The research is expected to contribute to scientific knowledge and support healthcare development in Ghana, particularly through improved understanding of diseases and factors that influence health outcomes.
