Kid Rock and Eminem are set to release a new song together on Saturday, 17 October, bringing two of Detroit’s biggest music stars together despite their sharply opposing political views. The track, titled ‘7 Sins’, will appear on Kid Rock’s forthcoming Christian album Halfway 2 Jesus, marking an unlikely collaboration in an increasingly politicized American music industry.
Kid Rock announced the 17-track album on 1 October, initially prompting disbelief among Eminem fans. However, music outlet Complex subsequently confirmed the collaboration through Eminem’s representatives. Speaking to Fox News over the weekend, Kid Rock said the two musicians had made a pact years ago never to allow politics to destroy their nearly 40-year friendship.

Kid Rock suggested that ‘two foul-mouthed white rappers’ from Detroit could set an example for a country increasingly divided along political lines, describing their collaboration as a message of mutual respect despite political disagreement.
Their friendship stretches back to Detroit’s rap scene in the 1990s, long before either became an international superstar. Eminem appeared on Kid Rock’s 1998 track ‘Fuck Off’, while Kid Rock later made a cameo in Eminem’s 2013 music video for ‘Berzerk’. Beyond music, the two have maintained a friendship built partly around their shared love of the Detroit Lions.
Politically, however, they could hardly be further apart. Kid Rock is an outspoken supporter of President Donald Trump and a die-hard MAGA supporter, while Eminem famously attacked Trump in a 2017 freestyle and campaigned for Kamala Harris in 2024. Nevertheless, when Eminem endorsed Harris, Kid Rock publicly defended his right to express his beliefs, with Eminem responding by celebrating their shared support for the Lions.
The collaboration has angered some Eminem fans, who see the partnership with one of Trump’s most outspoken celebrity supporters as a betrayal of the rapper’s earlier political stance. ‘I’m so disappointed in Em. He obviously knows better, yet he’d rather collab with this MAGA nut!’ one Reddit user complained. Another said they had removed Eminem’s music from their playlist, while others initially questioned whether the collaboration was even genuine.
However, the backlash was far from unanimous. Other fans defended the musicians’ longstanding friendship, arguing that making music together does not mean endorsing each other’s political beliefs.
There is also another Easter egg surrounding the album. It is scheduled to be released this Saturday, 17 October, which happens to be Eminem’s 44th birthday.
