Actor Lee Ki-taek is lining up a string of television and film roles after holding his first solo fan meeting in Japan since his debut.
Lee met with fans at two sessions of "LEE KI TAEK JAPAN Meet & Greet" held at Nikkei Hall in Tokyo on Sept. 27. It was his first fan meeting in Japan since his debut and marked his first step into activity overseas.
He plays Koo Jun-young, a former police officer turned broadcast writer, in "After the Play Ends," the second installment of KBS Drama Special 2026, which airs on Nov. 19. His character fights to protect a children's program, carrying the story in what will be a new turn in his acting.
In the new tvN drama "Secret Meetings at Suseong Palace," set to air in 2027, he takes the role of Grand Prince Jinyang. The series reinterprets a historical figure through its own lens, and attention is on how Lee will shape the character. He has also been confirmed for the new KBS2 drama "Love Cloud," continuing a run of work across genres.
He is also making his screen debut, further widening his range. In the film "Nam Eun-jung," he plays Nam Eun-chul, a pastor at a church plant and the eldest of three siblings. In a story about untangling misunderstandings and emotions that have built up within a family, he is expected to convey the character's inner life with nuance and show new potential as a film actor.
While expanding his reach abroad through meetings with fans, he is broadening his acting range through a mix of one-act dramas, period drama, romantic comedy and film.
Lee first drew notice by winning a new actor award for the drama "Efficient Dating for Singles," and he showed easy wit and a down-to-earth side on the variety show "2 Days & 1 Night." Interest is building in what comes next for an actor extending his reach from scripted roles to the approachable appeal he brings to variety television.
