Agartala, October 15, 2026: Emphasising the state government’s commitment to equitable development, Chief Minister Prof. Dr. Manik Saha on Thursday highlighted a series of infrastructure and public welfare initiatives worth around Rs 38.73 crore in Khowai district, including a proposed modern multi-storey shopping complex with parking facilities.
The Chief Minister made the announcement while inaugurating several completed projects and laying foundation stones for new initiatives at Subhash Park Book Fair Grounds in Khowai. The programme, held ahead of Durga Puja, marked another step in the government’s efforts to strengthen civic amenities and improve living standards across the state.

Dr. Saha said development must reach every district, subdivision and community, including areas inhabited by tribal populations. He maintained that the government was giving priority to education, healthcare, road connectivity, drinking water, electricity, housing and social security to build a self-reliant and prosperous Tripura.
The proposed shopping complex at Subhash Park is expected to add to Khowai’s commercial infrastructure, with parking facilities incorporated into the project. The Chief Minister also noted that development activities had been progressing across the district, with around 71 projects inaugurated or having their foundation stones laid since December 6, 2022.
Highlighting the importance of public participation in maintaining a clean environment, Dr. Saha unveiled a District Swachhta Mascot made from recyclable materials. He said cleanliness could not be achieved through government initiatives alone and required collective responsibility from citizens. Referring to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s emphasis on sanitation, he called for greater public awareness and participation in keeping surroundings clean.

The Chief Minister said the government was working to establish a new culture of governance, with development initiatives being undertaken regularly since 2018. Guided by the principle of Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas and Sabka Prayas, the government was pursuing progress across both rural and urban areas, he added.
Dr. Saha also underscored the importance of improving healthcare services, stating that steps were being taken to strengthen infrastructure and facilities at district hospitals. The broader focus, he said, was to ensure that better public services and infrastructure made everyday life safer, healthier and more convenient for the people of Tripura.
