The Tampa Bay Rays and Milwaukee Brewers will play Game 1 of the 2026 World Series on Friday night. Neither team plays in a big market, which has led some to wonder how much attention this Fall Classic will receive. Rays star outfielder Chandler Simpson recently explained why baseball fans will “love” this series, via MLBPA.
“If you want to see all facets of the game of baseball, and you really, truly love the game and everything that comes with it, and not just one dimension of the game, then I mean this would be a great series to watch,” Simpson said. “It’s going to be a long ball, it’s going to be the short ball. It’s going to be defense and pitching as well. You’re going to see crafty pitchers that don’t have the velo and you’re going to see people that throw hard as well.
“So I mean, if you truly love every facet and every tool of baseball, then you’re going to love this series.”

It projects to be a competitive World Series. The Brewers finished the regular season with the best record in all of MLB after winning 103 games. Milwaukee defeated the San Diego Padres and Los Angeles Dodgers in the playoffs to reach the Fall Classic. Meanwhile, the Rays had the best record in the American League with 98 victories. Tampa Bay earned series victories against the New York Yankees and Cleveland Guardians to book their ticket to the World Series.
Both ball clubs play the game well. They do the little things such as moving runners over, making the right decision on defense and taking the extra base.
Chandler Simpson is correct without question. If you love everything about the game of baseball, you are going to enjoy watching the 2026 World Series.
