Cincinnati Bengals QB Joe Burrow discussed Vice President JD Vance’s visit to the team’s practice on October 21.
Vance came to support the Bengals at practice before their game on Sunday against the Baltimore Ravens, as the Ohio native waited outside the team’s locker room to greet them after their session.
The video of Vance’s interaction showed most of the players walking past him without acknowledging him, although players such as star WR Ja’Marr Chase were seen interacting with him. But what about Joe Burrow?
Joe Burrow’s reaction to JD Vance’s appearance at Bengals practice
Burrow spoke to reporters about Vance’s attendance after practice, making it clear that he did not interact with Vice President Vance during his visit while giving a vague answer on what it meant to have the VP make a visit.
“We did not. He came with everybody and left with swiftness and efficiency before the end of practice, so I didn’t get to.”
“A lot of people around. That’s what I love about what I do is that it brings a lot of people together. And people want to take time out of their day to come and watch what we do, and watch what I do, and watch all the work that I put in to come and watch greatness. That’s everybody in the locker room; that’s why we do what we do. Whether it’s on TV, in-person, or on the practice field.”
Burrow was told about Vance’s attendance before practice by team owner Mike Brown, so he and the team were likely prepared to meet the VP. However, they can’t be faulted for not stopping for a word after a tiring practice in preparation for a big game on the weekend.
The Bengals are 3-2 this season and need to ensure they have a strong performance against the 4-2 Ravens to keep themselves among the Super Bowl contenders this season.
Burrow has thrown 135/189 on pass attempts this season for 1,361 yards, 11 touchdowns and three interceptions for a 104.4 passer rating and a 73.6 QB rating.
He has been among the top QBs in the NFL this season but has plenty of room to improve his output going forward to ensure the Bengals emerge as one of the premier contenders for the Super Bowl.
