(ANSA) - ROME, 12 OTT - A strike over contract renewal voted by La Scala workers Monday threatens the October 20 premiere of Gounod's Faust conducted by Daniele Rustoni.
The strike vote saw just one nay and four abstentions among the iconic Milanese opera house's over 450 workers.
Unions said they might call it off if La Scala officials agree to their demands for better pay and conditions.
"If we are summoned tomorrow and the superintendent, the personnel director, and the president are willing to discuss matters, we can reconsider," explained Paolo Puglisi of the CGIL. (ANSA).
