The Pittsburgh Steelers looked incredible in the Week 5 win over the Indianapolis Colts, advancing to 3-2 on the season following their 34-22 victory. There's plenty to discuss, particularly when it pertains to a few studs — and duds — in the Steelers' Week 5 win over the Colts.
From one of the best running back performances in franchise history to a lackluster outing for one veteran receiver, here's a look at the biggest winners and losers from the Steelers' Week 5 victory.
Winners
Jaylen Warren
Warren has solidified himself as one of the league's top running backs over the past few weeks, solidifying the argument with an amazing win over the Colts on Sunday. Warren recorded an 80-yard receiving touchdown, a 50-yard rushing touchdown, and finished the contest with 171 scrimmage yards.
Aaron Rodgers
Like Cameron Heyward, Aaron Rodgers appears to be unfazed by Father Time. Rodgers finished the contest with 235 passing yards and three passing touchdowns while completing 71% of his passes. This is now Rodgers' third straight game with three passing touchdowns, and the veteran quarterback deserves his flowers.
Pat Freiermuth
Muuuuuuuuth! The sixth-year Steelers tight end was unguardable in the red zone during the Week 5 win over Indianapolis, with Freiermuth finishing the game with five catches for 44 yards and two touchdowns. He's been one of Rodgers' favorite targets through five games and should continue to be a huge contributor in Pittsburgh's offense moving forward.
Germie Bernard
Michael Pittman Jr. went down, Germie Bernard stepped up. The second-round rookie finished the contest with 73 receiving yards and is primed for a big role with Roman Wilson also dealing with a new injury.
Asante Samuel Jr.
No Joey Porter Jr.? No problem! Asante Samuel Jr. made a handful of key pass breakups, including one against Colts tight end Tyler Warren in which Indianapolis was forced to settle for a 28-yard field goal. If this version of Samuel shows up each week, opposing offenses could be in real trouble.
Losers
DK Metcalf
Metcalf talked a big game when he called out Colts cornerback Sauce Gardner, but he didn't back it up in the receiving game. Metcalf made two monster blocks on Warren's 80-yard touchdown, but the Steelers need more than 12 yards out of their $132 million receiver.
Pittsburgh's pass rush
As a whole, the Steelers' defense, particularly against the run, was great in the win. But the pass rush completely fell flat. Heyward was the only defender credited with a sack. Daniel Jones wasn't pressured much throughout the contest, and if there was a weakest link in the win over Indianapolis, it would be the Steelers' pass rush.
