The Papyeong General Industrial Park in Papyeong-myeon, Paju, Gyeonggi Province, is entering full operation after completing support facilities including a worker dormitory.
Papyeong Industrial Complex Development said on the 22nd that it will hold a completion ceremony for the industrial park and its support facilities at the site on the 23rd.
The complex was built on a site of about 600,000 square meters, or roughly 184,000 pyeong, in the Jangpa-ri area of Papyeong-myeon in Paju. It includes about 390,000 square meters of industrial land, 7,900 square meters for support facilities and 9,500 square meters of parking. Construction began in 2021, with the project backed by the Korea Federation of SMEs.
The park is distinguished by the amenities it offers tenant companies and their workers. Support facilities on the site include a worker dormitory, a dedicated cafeteria and a convenience store. The developer expects the facilities to ease housing and meal costs for workers at tenant firms and to improve working conditions.
Eligible industries include electronics and machinery manufacturing, metal processing, printing, primary metals, furniture, warehousing, video production, chemicals and waste-to-fuel recycling. The developer is also running a special sale of industrial land, pitching price competitiveness within the greater Seoul area.
Transport access and nearby industrial infrastructure are also cited as strengths. The site can draw on the Gyeongui-Jungang Line, the GTX-A express rail line, the Seoul-Munsan Expressway, Tongil-ro and Jayu-ro. The Paju LCD complex and the Dangdong, Seonyu and Jeokseong general industrial parks are located nearby, raising the prospect of cooperation and industrial linkages among tenant companies.
"Building this industrial park gives us a new growth engine for the economy of Paju and the wider northern Gyeonggi region," said Ko Byung-heon, chief executive of Papyeong Industrial Complex Development. "If the peace economic special zone set to be designated this year is established in areas such as Munsan-eup and Paju-eup, we expect new changes for the industrial park."
