Parents who already know CoComelon’s nursery rhymes by heart may soon have a whole movie’s worth of songs to contend with. The preschool franchise is heading to the big screen with CoComelon: The Movie.
Moonbug Entertainment is partnering with NBCUniversal’s DreamWorks on the feature, which will follow JJ as he prepares for his first day of kindergarten.
The film promises a bigger musical experience, more developed storytelling, and emotional themes built around a milestone familiar to young children and their parents.
For Pakistani households where JJ is already a regular presence on phones and televisions, the announcement means another addition to the children’s entertainment lineup. However, the information shared does not include a Pakistan release date.
CoComelon has attracted more than 200 million YouTube subscribers and generated over 200 billion views since its first video appeared in September 2006.
Its move beyond short nursery-rhyme videos gathered pace with its Netflix arrival in 2020. The franchise later introduced CoComelon Lane in 2023, giving its characters more dialogue and exploring their everyday experiences.
Other projects include the live-action The Melon Patch and CoComelon Playdates with Sanrio Friends.
The upcoming movie marks another step in Moonbug’s effort to turn the preschool favorite into a lasting global franchise. For parents hoping the household’s CoComelon phase was nearly over, JJ apparently has other plans.
